considering a 2003 xc.....

Post by mrscullini »

we've have a 2000 that we will be keeping, but time for a second wagon. considering a 2003 that i found at a local dealer. it seems clean, 85k on the clock. anything specific to this my that should be a concern? what year was the awd system changed to the haldex?

i'm in truckee, ca, they are asking $13500. seems high based on edmunds, they put their true market value at $11300. at $11300, i would make a cash offer. kbb is right on. any pricing insight?

thanks.

Volvo went to the Haldex system in 03 so basically no worries with the awd system. In regards to the P2 cars, 03 models upward tend to have fewer issues overall than the 01 or 02. At 85k the t-belt service is looming, and I'd look for a good service history such as oil changes, was the 60k service done, etc. Drive the car and see if you observe any abnormal creaks or clunks, suspension parts will start to wear at about the mileage this car has, and finally I'd get the car inspected by someone familiar with these models.

The price seems high to me, but everything seems high to me I suppose. JRL can chime in on the cars value, I think he has an XC or two for sale and his cars are always nice and priced decently.

Lets' see.
I have a 100% PERFECT 2005 with a 3rd seat and boosters with 90K for $11,990 and you would consider an 03 for about the same price???
...and you of all people, you KNOW my cars are perfect.

i wouldn't question the quality of the vehicle you present, i know you have a strong reputation. i have just begun my search and this vehicle popped up locally.

i wouldn't pay that price. i'm thinking that i would offer $10k cash and see what they said. i figure they took it in on trade and low balled the seller/buyer. i figure it probably needs a timing belt, struts and o2 sensors, maf sensor, etc. if i couldn't get it for $10.5k i would walk. i'll see how fast they wanna turn the inventory.

i'll think about your '05. i would need it shipped to reno, nv, can you give me an estimated shipping cost?

Replied to your PM.
I forgot to add that it had only one (1) stored code, (no small feat in itself) and that was fixed.
I've been driving it myself for the past couple of weeks, super nice XC
