New member, Strange problem: how to pop navi?

Post by CountryBum-kin »

Hello all! I just registered to the forum, hope to learn a lot.

I bought my first Volvo three weeks ago (the day before Christmas eve). It is an S60 AWD with the navigation system and 127000 miles on the clock and seems to be in pretty good condition. The drive from Chicago to Indianapolis was great!

Now to my problem: The navigation screen will not raise from the dashboard. I have the original DVD and the car's DVD player accepts it. I looked at the files by inserting the DVD in my computer, I assume it is still readable. Troubleshooting methods always start from simplest to the more complicated, so the first thing that comes to mind is check the fuse. Maybe the previous owner removed the fuse to keep it in the stored position? I have ordered the owner's manual and repair manual and as yet have not received them.

Any comments, clues, advice will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I pressed the buttons behind the steering wheel and let a few minutes pass, the manual states it may take several seconds. I also removed and re-inserted the DVD which had no effect. I can hear the DVD spinning, if that helps.
