My front right turn signal went out on my 93 850. I replaced the bulb with an 1157A. The old bulb was burnt to a crisp. My 850 has day time running lights. The new bulb comes on but it doesn't blink when I want to signal a turn. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
Thanks.

It may not be socketed correctly, does the other side blink?
The lamp sockets on all of our cars are getting long in the tooth and it may be the bulb is either 180 degrees out or that it never seated all the way to the stop.
If neither side blinks then the fault likely is in the hazard flasher module.

First off if the base of the bulb was charred up, it sounds like that socket is bad & needs to be replaced or at the very least the terminals cleaned.
Do any of the turn signals flash like they should? If not, your relay is stuck, which is located in the hazard switch assembly in the dash. You can give it a good hit with the blunt end of a screwdriver and sometimes it will work again, but ultimately once it gets stuck you'll need to order a new (or used) switch.

The socket and base are fine. The other 3 turn indicators work fine. When I hit the hazard switch only the front right light doesn't flash.
I'll try putting the bulb in 180 degrees from its current position to see if that works. Otherwise i'll try cleaning the hazard switch contacts.
Thank you.

I had that same problem. I went as far as unplugging the socket and found that the whole socket assembly had to be replaced since the little prongs the harness plugs into had rusted completely.

Fixed it! I had to re-seat the bulb a couple of times. I think I would push it in too hard bending one of the contacts away from the base of the bulb. I'm going to put di-electric grease on the contacts on the weekend. I'm surprised they weren't greased.
I took the hazard switch out because I thought it was the problem. I was going to buy a replacement. But I opened t before I ordered a new one. It looked fine (that's why I rechecked the bulb). There are 2 very small capacitors in there. I don't think it's worth the effort to replace them when the switch fails. Its easier just to get another one.
