Said wafer is indeed as Jimmy states. It's meant to get the motor turning from the pulse when you wash your windshield a wee bit to close the cog that closes 12v to the motor to do its cycle. Then it opens up so your wiper doesn't continue. Quite an important part. Sadly, can't find one. Off to the scrapyard.
In all this I noticed my auto transmission leaking fluid.
