Need suggestions for headlight upgrade on V70

Post by wjbender »

I just bought a 1999 V70 and would like to improve the headlights. Can anyone suggest an upgraded lightbulb? Has anyone had success with a Xenon kit or is the best bet to go with Sylvania Silverstars?

any suggestions are appreciated

If you would like to email me my email is [email protected]

thanks

I swear by the Sylvania's - bought them as upgrades for my old '88 240 and my '93 850. Best $40 I ever spent... ;)

If you increase the wattage you may also need to upgrade the wireing harness as it is sized to the stock wattage bulbs. The socket will also degrade much faster and will become brittle

I've spent a scary amount of $$$ on lighting upgrades and I can confidently say that I'm satisfied.

My setup is as follows:

Hella HID ballasts w/ 6000k Raybrig capsules.
Jewel headlights and corners
Catz MSP fogs

I'd never go back to halogen again and it hardly feels like the headlights are turned on if riding in a car equipped with them. Silverstars may give an improvement over stock halogen's, but are no comparison to real HID's.

What skill level is needed to install the Hellas, on say a 1-10 scale?
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Very easy, I'd say it's a two. Everything is plug and play. The hardest part is deciding where to mount the ballast.
