SRS airbag service restet
Hi, I recently removed my air conditioning unit from my S60 D5 as it was blowing hot then cold. After cleaning the sensor I replaced it, however the SRS airbag service urgent warning light has now come on. It cannot be coincidence!
Any advice on how to reset this warning signal please?

Yes your local Volvo dealer.
You probably did not disconnect the battery before you did this and a dealer is the only way it can be reset

Message center shows "SRS - Airbag service urgent" in the cluster it has the oil and check engine lit. I want to guess at the alternator, but feel $350 is a lot of guessing. Plus here on the coast it is special order. Do you have any suggestions?
When the key is turned position 1 only message center display, Position 2 same, position 3 start, sequence all items display normal, then drop out leaving the oil and check engine.

As JRL stated the SRS code should not immobilize the car. If you have reason to suspect the alternator is bad, have you checked the battery? A weak or bad battery will wreak havoc with the electronics on these cars.
Battery tested at 12.8 vdc, I took it to the Auto Zone in case it had a cell bad, load test good. I have a charger, thinking about hooking it up to boost the voltage above 13vdc. Also checked it under the hood, it was 12.6 vdc. S80 1999 185,000. ? I will take any suggestions.
No I have no "real" reason on the suspicion about the alternator, except for the cluster lights, and when my wife turned the key, I had my fluke under the hood, looking for a voltage drop. There was a high pitched noise from the general area of the alternator.

Possible PNP switch issue maybe? I'm not familiar with the S80, but I'm assuming they use the PNP switch. Move the gear selector from park through the range of gears 20-30 times and see if it makes a difference. Contacts within the switch can become dirty and the rapid gear cycling can help to clean them or dislodge any old grease in there.
Yes you are correct JRL I did not disconnect the battery as I do not have the code for the radio and was concerned it would not operate if the battery was disconnected. I did not get the full paperwork when I bought the car 18 months ago.JRL wrote:Yes your local Volvo dealer.

Many thanks for confirming the above.
