Hello Everyone,
I have a couple of bulb replacement questions, I have a 2001 V70 T5.
1. The driver side brake light is out, I replaced the bulb and that did nothing, I also checked the fuse and it is good, but the light is still out, all the other lights are working fine, am I missing something? Is this something I can do on my own without having to take into the shop?
2. Center console lights (climate control to be exact) bulbs are out as well, doesnt appear to look easy to replace but are they and are bulbs readily available?
Side note: while removing the pen holder, I noticed a little wire/cord with a headset type plug, what is this for?
3. Fog light socket, driver side was missing, I removed passenger side to bring it into the parts store, but got sidetracked and lost the socket....is there a part number that will help me find what I'm looking for...
I searched the web, but couldnt exactly find the answers to my quesitons, so if I missed them somewhere, feel free to point me in the right direction...Thanks in advance.
A couple of Bulb questions...
So on your break light I would get a test light and check the socket and/or the wires in back of the socket.
Just to see if your getting power to it, start at the socket and work your way back or in your case to the front.
I've had bad sockets on other cars it does not happen alot but you never know, grease to in the socket I've seen sometimes someone will put to much electrical grease in there?
I'll get back to you on the center console I'm diving into the same thing very soon?
Little wire don't know maybe someone installed a ipod/mp3 wire?
Fog light socket just hit up a salvage yard that will be your quickest way. If you can't find one local there are alot on the internet
like ERIE vo-vo good guys too.

If you find the brake light feed does not have 12 V then be sure the fuses are checked back at the fuse box in left rear cargo area side. If fuses check out then you could have a burnt shunt. The brake light feed goes through one of the black thin gizmos that you will see on that fusebox. That fusebox is a module controlling many things in rear of car and is called the Rear Electric Module (REM).
The shunts are approx. 1 inch by 2 inch and maybe 1/8 inch thick. Black plastic covers metal conductors used to check the electrical load of the bulbs so the REM can detect bulb function. If the shunt is not plugged in or if a segment has broken or burned then the bulb will have no power to it.

Check these links, they may help with the Climate control bulb change. I'll be doing mine when the weather warms up.
