My check engine light had been illuminated so I checked the codes and a faulty knock sensor was reported. I cleared the codes, waited a while, and sure enough the same code reappeared. So, it looks like there might be a problem here. My plan of attack is to first check/clean the connection then replace the knock sensor if neccesary. Only one problem - I can't seem to find the darn thing. I was looking on the block last night and could not seem to find it. After doing a little reading this morning, it seems like I might have to remove the fan or intake manifold to get to it. I quess my question is what is the best way to get to the sensor. Thanks.

91 740, the knock sensor is mounted on the block under the intake manifold. All you need is a 12 mm wrench or socket to remove it. A dealer would sell one for around $84.
