2000 S80 2.9 Side passenger mirror repair

Hello, I was recently forced off of the road and in the process damaged my passenger side mirror. The mirror is not cracked and the motor still works but the mirror it self has come out of the passenger side mirror housing I guess. I apologize if I am not using the proper names of the parts. I have two photos of the damage which are are below. I am looking for a way to fix it or at the very least a repair manual for my volvo.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

It should hook back in unless the hook has been damaged. The attached shows the procedure for the S60 but is exactly the same for the S80.

Can you confirm the size of the engine, please? My book shows either a 2.8 turbo or a 2.9 non-turbo for the US 2000 S80.

Thank You it is a 2.9 non turbo not 2.6 I Will let you know if this works

Thanks I have tried but I cant figure out where the metal paper clip like thing attaches to in the diagram if I can figure that out I think I am good.

The glass should hook onto the outer edge of the mounting. When I said "unless the hook has been damaged" I was looking at the jagged edge on the right side of your first picture. It looks as if something may have broken off.

I have enlarged the picture from the .pdf to show what I mean.

It looks to me as though the part marked in red is missing. If it is you have two alternatives:

1. Buy a drive unit, either new or used.
2. Attach the mirror glass to the drive unit with either a very strong double sided adhesive tape or adhesive hook and loop fasteners.
