Code question

Post by turbotim2 »

I have a 2004 XC70 with 85k on it. Just got a CEL today, went to check it and my OBDII reader would not recognize that there was a code. To confirm, I restarted the car and CEL remained. I checked it while running and the reader came back with "P2177 - lean off idle" and there were 2 instances recorded. I was able to clear the code but only when the car was running. I know you are supposed to be ignition on - engine off when doing this but its the only way I could read and erase the code.

Does anyone have any info regarding this code? I searched the forum with no results.

Thanks!!

I should add that the car was not and is not experiencing any rough idle or abnormal symptoms.

Here is a similar thread for your reading http://www.v70xc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14901

You can google Volvo P2177 code and come up with a bunch of hits. From quick reading it looks like anything from a vacuum leak to the MAF sensor as stated in the above thread. I've never personally experienced this code so I can't be of much help.
