s70 up arrow flashing. how do i reset?
the orange up arrow in my dash is flashing. i called the dealer and they want $75 just to read the code. the car runs and drives fine and the mechanic said it could be due to ice build-up and that if the car is performing fine that i should be ok as long as the trans dont start acting up. it is a 2000 model with 155,000mi one owner vehicle and volvo maintained its entire life. can i reset the warning lamp without paying for it?

Take it to Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts and have them check for codes first, they do it for free. If no codes then do the shifter row which I'm about to explain: As far as the flashing arrow, when I had that problem I would turn the car off, set the ignition key where only the warning lamps come on, and do what is known here to be the "shifter row". This is where you shift it from Park to your lowest gear (kind of at a quick pace). Do this about 20 times. Turn it off and start the car back up. It should clear your flashing arrow. If it comes back, it can be your PNP switch or, worst case scenario, your tranny.dozzy wrote:the orange up arrow in my dash is flashing. i called the dealer and they want $75 just to read the code. the car runs and drives fine and the mechanic said it could be due to ice build-up and that if the car is performing fine that i should be ok as long as the trans dont start acting up. it is a 2000 model with 155,000mi one owner vehicle and volvo maintained its entire life. can i reset the warning lamp without paying for it?
Look up PNP switch here in the forum. Plenty have written about it!
Good Luck
