Volvo S40 Radio Removal - Handsfree Kit

Post by BIGPete »

Hello everyone,

I have just stumbled accross this great forum. I would appreciate any help as i cannot get any help on this matter.

A friend of mine has asked me to wire his radio to his handsfree kit so it mutes the radio and routes the calls through the cars stereo. I have done this many times in other cars but not so sure about the s40.

The lead comes from autoleads. What happens is you remove exisiting lead going to back of radio in car connect the autolead to the radio and the original volvo connection is inserted to a socket into autolead then this provides a radio mute and power supply for your kit.

My main question is does anyone know how to remove radio to gain access to rear of radio and secondly how much room is behind the radio dash etc. Anyone got any pictures would be great .

on the sides of the radio unit you will see a vertical bar on each side. press these in and they will pop out to handles. pull the handles and it should just slide out.
