Service airbag immediately

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Service airbag immediately

Post by casey38boost »

I pulled out my dash cluster to replace a bulb, and when I put the cluster back in, it is lit up service airbag immediately.

Is there any way to get rid of this?

Yes...and no...

The dealer can clear it, and considerably lighten your wallet in the process.

The alternative is to buy a code reader that is made for Volvos. BSR makes a unit that will do this, a PPC3 (see http://en.bsr.se/products/503450/) but there may be cheaper ones. (I have the older PPC unit and it works fine, don't have info on the new one.)

I pulled my radio out and had the same thing happen. There's a few threads in here about that (which of course I didn't check until AFTER I did it  ). Basically you need to disconnect the battery and let the car sit for a while (30 minutes?) to allow all the accumulated charge to drain off.

BUT, always be careful when dealing with safety systems!
Usually, if you do have a problem, it'll pop back up after you reset the codes. Make sure to write all the codes down before you erase them. If there's really something wrong with it, please take it to a pro for service. Nasty things can happen and really ruin your day...
