Are there TWO purge canisters on the 1998 v70xc?

Post by massauto »

Hello,

I have a 1998 V70 XC with a CEL PO455 code Evap Leak. VIN YV1LZ5647W2XXXXXX

I've read the posts here and based on what I read I removed the inner wheel well flap on the front drivers side and see that there is a canister (more rectangle than round) situated there. After looking at this for a little bit, I determined that I probably didn't have to remove the inner flap in order to remove this. There appears to be one nut and bolt on the bottom of the bracket that appears to hold the canister in place.

I chased the hoses back as far as I could see (car is only jacked up, not on a lift) and saw one hose that heads towards the back of the car.

I climbed under the back and saw a round canister north of the gas tank (towards the front of the car). Is that also an evaporator canister? If yes, how do I get to it to check it? If no, what is it? If it is the evap canister, then what is the rectangular box that sits under the drivers side front of the car with hoses running in and out.

A long story to ask my question! Are there two evap canisters on this vehicle?

Thank you.

The one at rear is an expansion tank. It is there to prevent liquid from going forward to the charcoal canister.
