My 2008, S60 D5

After 3.5 days downtime and mild to moderate frosts in southern France gives car after spinning of contact reporting "ENGINE MANAGEMENT SERVICE REQUIRED"
The first 700 foot the turbo works .......... not thereafter.
Message disappears with little higher rpm but when reverting rpm the message will reappear.
After 35 to 50 miles, the turbo mode (boost pressure and therefore power) comes back.
After about 80 miles a only once the message "SOOT FILTER FULL SEE MANUAL" appears and disappears a few later on.

Next morning start with reporting "ENGINE MANAGEMENT SERVICE REQUIRED" there after the same symptoms and then turbo function back after 35 miles. The next 550 miles no mention or concern.

Today, the same phenomena, it seems when engine is hot that the problem is gone.

Does your S60 have DEF/Urea system? If so has the additive level been checked?

If the system using DEF/Urea is not fitted then you may have a stopped up Diesel Particulate Filter or inlet pressure sensor on the DPF may be faulty.
You have the DPF for sure but if you have the DEF/Urea tank then the car also uses an SCR catalyst and power reduction is done by the engine management system to keep emissions reduced and to reduce overheating and damage to emissions devices.
The emissions system usually has a longer warranty than the rest of the car so you may have warranty coverage for this problem through dealer.

My 2008 S60 has no DEF / Urea system with an additive.
Could you tell how I can check if the Diesel Particulate Filter has been stopped?
How can I check if the inlet pressure sensor on the DPF works?

I know of no way to read those readily without either VIDA at a Volvo dealer or other scan tools capable of displaying full engine management parameters. Autodiagnos is a pretty popular tool used by workshops in Europe that has the capability.
