door lock issue
door lock issue
Hey folks, I've got a small problem with my '02 S60 T5. The driver's side door lock no longer locks or unlocks when using the remote or the button on the door armrest. The lock "button" moves easily enough manually, and there is no resistance when manually unlocking the door using the key. Also, if you are in the car, open the door, and then depress the button, it stays depressed instead of self-unlocking. I've examined the fuses related to the door functions, and all the other stuff is working, so I'm thinking that either an electrical connector to the door lock actuator has come undone, or the actuator itself is bad. Are there other (hopefully simpler) possibilities I am missing? If not, is the actuator something that can be hacked and rebuilt? I'm really reluctant to throw down $151 for a new lock actuator unless I know for sure that it is the problem. Thanks in advance...

I just replaced the lock control panel yesterday on my 2000 S70. It fixed my window not going down, but the door locks might have been worsened. The driver side used to "stick", now they seem to be confused. it isn't that it is plugged in backwards, it is something else. I say try it, $151 is nothing for car repairs, and it might help, these things do wear out.
I looked at the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual, so I know what color wires I'll be looking for when I try to check this thing out. I'll probably pull the actuator, try to make it work (apply 12 volts here and there) and see if I can get inside the thing. I'll spend the money for a new actuator if I need to, but I have a strong desire to be very sure before buying parts.
If you are interested; I have a l.f. actuator from an 06 S60, low miles and working when removed. It is part # 30699750, superceded to 30784976 and is supposed to fit 01-09 S60's with 2 stage unlocking and a lock cylinder. I'd be willing to send it to you if you'd pay shipping up front, should be $10-$12 and let you try it. If it is what you need I'd take $70, if it isn't just send it back. I'm confident the part is correct, although I am not sure whether this part will require any programming to make it work. If you are interested send me an email at [email protected]
