I believe that the consensus is that the stock size is the best for your set up. Unless you are planning other upgrades in which you are going to increase the power from your engine I would stick with a stock exhaust. If, you are just looking for noise
and you want to completely disregard the law
then I say start at the exhaust manifold with a piece of 3" pipe split that off into two 2.5" pipes and run one each out either side of the car right behind the front tires or perhaps the B pillar.
However, without the O2 sensors and the cats you will be throwing all kinds of codes and your engine will loose some power, but at least it will be LOUD!

Probably not.
Just remove the center resonator and replace with a straight pipe.
Gives a little tone and will cost you no more than 50-75 bucks

Cat back will be louder than what you have now.zooplane wrote:what about a piece of pipe from the cat back with no muffler at all? i wont be breaking any laws but will i be loud and will it sound good?
It probably will not sound good to my ears but I am not you.
In all seriousness JRL probably has the best suggestion as to where to start, replace the resonator with a piece of pipe. If you want to get an idea of how it will sound with straight pipes start the engine the resonator removed but before you put the pipe back in place. If you like the sound then go ahead and do straight pipes all the way out.
You are dealing with a subjective topic as far as what will sound good and how loud it will be to you.

Naw, not on a non turbozooplane wrote:if i do pipes all the way out, will i loose power without having back pressure from a chambered muffler? If i will then i plan on doing what JRL said
Remove the center resonator first
If you want more, remove the rear 9and you will have a straight pipe
You do NOTwant to make the pipes larger or the car will drone to death and you will hate it
Remember this is a 5 cyl with a sound all of its own
It will never sound like a 4, a 6 or a V8, no matter what you do with it

This is the last reply as you don't want to listen to anyone
It's a small, 5 cylinder, NON turbo.
It doesn't matter what the hell the pipe size is, it will run about the same no matter what you do
PERIOD AND DONE
