I have 1996 850 Turbo sedan, and I recently popped a moderately sized sub amp in the trunk with 4-gauge cabling (professionally installed) from the battery. It's only powering one 10-inch Infinity woofer in a sealed enclosure.
If I turn it up past a conversation-friendly level at all, however, the bass hits dim my interior lights and headlights to a pretty severe degree. I had the same amp installed in my '87 740 a few years ago, but had no such problems -- I figured the electrical gear in my 850 would be sufficient to power it as well.
Also, when I turn the car off the battery light comes on for a couple of seconds with a whine (I figured that was normal).
Is my battery or alternator or something dying? Could it be something else in the electrical system?
