Getting ready to replace the spring seats on my volvo v70....I had read in a passed discussion or forum that is possible to use the spring seat from a V70XC and install it on a volvo v70... Is this correct???
Any response would be appreciated.

You will want to replace them with the ones from an XC90 (the big Volvo SUV). Any year will do. They are much more durable than the V70 seats.

Welcome to the site.
Here is a good tutorial that I used when replacing mine the first time. I've currently got one in the process of going bad, but I'll probably be replacing struts soon so I'm going to try to ignore it until then

There are several other write-ups in the repair database - if you have any further questions along the way, feel free to ask. There are tons of knowledgeable people that hang out on the site here, and this is (unfortunately) a pretty common issue with these cars.
Make sure you get an alignment afterwards!

After you're finished you may regret the statement that you're "looking forward" to doing it!

Should I purchase parts through volvo dealer or should I purchase parts online?

You can probably find them for much, much cheaper online - dealers are usually a total ripoff - just make dead sure that they are OEM Volvo parts - sometimes it is tricky to tell. Check out IPD and/or FCP Groton for those. If you have questions, post what you're looking at or give the company a call.

About to order a full bush set from FCP for my wagon. Already have the Bilstein tourings and a set of lowering springs.
Spring seats will definitely be OEM, but how about sway bar links, front strut mounts & rear shock mounts??
Will non-OEMs in these items last 3-5 years with moderate useage?

Doesn't matter as long as you go with XC90 or IPD HD spring seats ONLYricsvolvov70 wrote:Should I purchase parts through volvo dealer or should I purchase parts online?

Finished replacing upper spring seats.....wasn't too bad of a job....considering my first time. Now I know what to anticipate on the second go around.
