I've used Dubbin leather treatment. It's super greasy stuff, I usually rub it on thick, then let the car sit and idle for about 15 to 20 mins with the heat on high, "or sit in the sun".
Then with a dry rag wipe the excess grease off. The stuff is like mink oil and really penetrates and protects the leather unlike some of the other products.
Most people use this stuff on their leather boots but the pkg says suitable for all leather.

Griot's Garage makes a 'Leather Rejuvenator' and a 'Leather Treatment' that work great. It's a great company with high quality products.

Hello All,

In college I worked for a leather store (Gepetto's) near campus. When somone came in with a 'quality' leather garment to have cleaned, the owner would take over.

Mark would take it for two or three weeks. First, he would clean it with alchol, and rub it down till the rag came away clean. Then to 'recondition' he used Lexol, a very light coating with a sheepskin scrap. Several times, the lighter the coating, the better. Charged $30 to $50 for a coat/jacket.

Does anybody have any thoughts or experience with the Alcantara panels on the late 90s V70R?
What is the best way to clean them?
Does it matter if whatever lotion you use on the leather panels gets onto them? They look like suede, but I guess they are a bit more resilient?
I was out using a shoe leather lotion on the leather panels, and got a bit paranoid about what might happen, staining etc, if I got leather conditioner on the Alcantara panels.
And in general, how resilient are they to wear and staining? Mine look in excellent condition at 98k, but it's new to me, so I don't know

PS - for what it is worth, on my interior leather I have always taken a two stage approach - I think it is important to remove any surface dirt before rubbing in any conditioner. I tend to use a microfiber cloth, spray some Meguiars (no particular loyalty to this product) cleaner conditioner onto the cloth, wipe off any dirt from the seat; then work in some real conditioner - I have used Lexol; currently I am using a shoe leather conditioner from The Walking Company.

I've used the Zymol cleaner and conditioner on my 2008 XC90 and 2002 S60 since I've owned them. It does a pretty good job of keeping the leather clean and supple. Haven't tried any of the other products like Lexol yet but happy with Zymol so far.

Y'all are going to think I'm a heretic, or at least crazy. The old black leather on my sedan responded wonderfully to, get this, Old English 800. Yes, the wood/furniture oil. They were so hard before I figured it couldn't hurt and the seats absorbed it and softened up quite nicely and the pieces that are still in good condition take a nice shine. Just let it soak in for a day or so and give it a good wipe before setting on it unless you are wearing old jeans! Doesn't smell bad either.
