Center hood lock stuck, can't open, '93 850

Popped the hood today only to find that the center pull isn't working right, though it does move in and out and seems connected as always, so I don't think it's broken. The corner latches release (thank God!) but can only lift the hood enough to squeeze my hand underneath, which doesn't help since I can't really grasp anything in there. I'm recalling last time I opened it, that latch was a little sticky. Can anyone tell me how to release this?

Fashion a hook out of a coat hanger. Insert it just above the Volvo emblem, about 4 inches in. Turn the hook so that it is sideways and feel for the latch, then pull toward the front of the car. A flashlight may help you see the latch through the grille. Might take a few attempts. Good Luck
