washer fluid in coolant over flow%#$
Installed new radiator & hoses. Drove 500 miles to go skiing, topping up once as the system burped. Parked car a few days, getting ready to leave for the 500 miles back home & noticed the coolant was a little low. Grabbed my antifreeze from the trunk right next to the washer fluid bottle & was explainingg to my son what I was doing & saw it was blue as it started to pour. #%!! About 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of methyl glycol/water washer fluid ended up in the system. I know in theory methyl glycol increases corrosion of aluminum, but figured at most a 50/50 mix means I got maybe 1/8 to 1/4 cup of methyl glycol in the system. I was 2 hours north of Montreal facing a 10 hour trip and did not have an option of hanging around so I drove home. Anyone have a feel if it's worth the effort of doing flush? My chem Eng father-law said no need as it's so dilute the ph which is what harms aluminum & some materials would not be altered. Anyone have a view? The washer fluid did not contain anything other than water and methyl glycol. The Volvo antifreeze is water and ethyl glycol.
