1997 v40 2ltr dashboard glare back onto windscreen

hi may seem silly but does anybody else with a v40 suffering this problem almost difficult to drive on bright sunny days as all you see through windscreen is the entire dash reflection.
anyone got an idea how to stop this please

if dash has been sprayed with protectant then you clean dash top to eliminate the residue making it shine.
I drove a 2000 V40 for a year and I don't recall that being a problem and I live in a very sunny place.
