Oil quality and O2 sensors trigger valve timing issues?

Post by mgjonesin »

I'm getting a P0014 exhaust camshaft timing over-advanced bank 1.

About 2 months ago I was getting a similar code for the intake variable valve timing, along with a ticking from a cold engine. I attributed it to poor oil quality, though I change the oil as per volvo maint. recommendations. Once I changed the oil and reset the code the problem went away.

Could old O2 sensors be shortening oil life and cause my timing issues? 114000 mi. with original O2 sensors.

this is also caused by low oil pressure you probally need to drop the oil pan and replace the oil pick up o rings and replace the exh vvt valve on the head
