2002, V70 XC, AWD, 2.4L (191,000 miles)
I need to replace the front springs soon. My mechanic says maybe I should replace the struts at the same time. He thinks that there is one unit, a spring/strut unit that I could purchase.
Does anyone know if this is true? If yes, is there a parts' store that sells it, or must I go to the dealer for this?

REPLACE EVERYTHING, struts, springs, spring seats and anything else that looks like it may need replacing; like the bearing plates for instance

+1; I have the same amount of miles on mine and it rides like crap at the moment.
Use an XC90 spring seat for the front towers. They'll hold up longer.
Check your wheels for any play with one side of the car on the ground; you may need new control arms/ball joints too.

I would use another shop, one more capable
