'99 S80 front brake hose replacement

Post by emk »

I recently performed a rotor/pad/fluid job. I noticed that both front brake hoses were getting old and the rubber was cracked on one section of the hose. I have purchased replacement hoses and intend on replacing them shortly when I switch out my winter tyres for my summer set.
Does any one have any advice or tips on getting these swapped out?

Also the new pads I installed were the Akebono Euro ceramic flavour. I've never used ceramic pads before so I didn't quite know what kind of response to expect. When I first drove the car after the install, braking felt kinda spongy. Maybe this is the feel of ceramic pads, but I don't know. I flushed the old fluid out with new so it shouldn't be a fluid issue. I'm thinking it may be the with the quality of the current hoses (which is another reason why I bought the new hoses). Moreover, when I depress the brake pedal these days, it feels as though it travels down further than my old brakes did.

Any advice would be appreciated.
