Evaporative System

Hello everyone!! I am trying to get my 2001 xc70 inspecetd but it keeps failing. The system says its the evaporative system. How do I fix this problem? I was told to fill it up with gas and make sure the gas cap was on tight, did that and i'm still having the problem. Thanks for the help, LNA

what is the diagnostic code? could be the purge valve, J hose, plugged up PCV system, gas cap, etc, etc... you get the idea. lots of possibilities.

We won't be much help without the code because it could be anything really.

If you don't have a diagnostic code reader, go to your local autozone. Have them plug-in theres and they will tell you the code(s) free.
