Low coolant warning...

Post by xallenx »

Hi,

This is the 2nd day that this warning light came on at cold start. Checked the coolant level and it's between min and max. Anyone else had this warning come on only at cold start up. Will see if it happens again tom. morning. Also, the warning light doesn't stay on that long, less than a minute with the red ! mark on, then turns off.

Mine did this this past winter, only my level was closer to min at cold. I would just top it off to the max cold level. I never noticed any issues, it did it on and off for 2-3 weeks before I topped off and every timeit got up to operating temp or even a 1/4 of it, the light went away.

Thanks..plan on flushing this Khameleon coolant out and replacing it with Volvo coolant. I'll make sure to top it off close to max level. Do I just need 1 gallon to refill the entire system?

Im not sure if the Volvo coolant is premixed or concentrated. Its approx 2 gallons. I always buy a gallon of Zerex G-05 and a gallon of distilled water and im good. It may not be a bad idea to buy a radiator flush product and a couple gallons of distilled water and flush it for 50 miles, then put in your new coolant.

Just had a low coolant warning and went to volvo dealer and bought a coolant jug, it's a concentrated one, so i needed to do a 50/50. After the fill to right levels, warning went away , Ask the dealer as well if it's common, yes specially during summer time.
