Tranny Fluid Change

Post by Guest »

I took my 99 S70 for tranny change at the local shop. Using
Mobil Synthetic Dexron III/Mercon.

The guy just drained the plug. Put in 5 quarts. Started the Car
(no gear change). Drained again. Put in 4.5 quarts. And gave
me the car.

When I told him this is not what I asked me to do. He got rude.

Anyway, Is this effective tranny fluid change? Also I checked the
ATF level and it is high. Do I need to drain some or 1 quart or
so extra is alright.
Thanks

I think you have made a good start, but would definitely check the condition of your fluid now and also adjust the level. I am no mechanic but did the fluid change on my v70 with no problems. Just follow the directions found in many places on this site. You can do it!
