1992 740 Wagon Engine Swap

Post by 1Surfrider »

I have a 92 740 wagon that recently (3 months/1000 miles ago) got a fully rebuilt engine. Same engine but went to a good shop and got rebuilt well.

My daughter was in an accident last wekk that left the front end a bit broken up, grill, radiator, condenser, lights etc. The insurance company wants to total the car and give me $2000. I'm sure I can buy the car back from them and swap the motor out to a new body.

My question is, I have this 92 740, non turbo, automatic, engine. What year wagon can I easily swap this into besides another 92?

I appreciate your help, this is becoming a nightmare!

It'll ONLY fit 1981 or earlier rear wheel drive cars?

Sorry, typing faster than my brain was working. The engine will fit any RWD Volvo 1981 or newer (1994)
