I hate to hear that you are going to trade it in, but I understand. With gas hovering at the $4 mark...filling up has been a real issue lately.goldfishhh wrote:*giggle* Yea, I aint relocating the pump control module - that is the next guys problem, not mine. As soon as this thing fixed the car is going to be traded in. Stupid economy has killed our income and the $760/mo (36mo left) isn't sustainable.
New fuel pump - installed....ok, now what!

It isn't a heat issue, it's purely a corrosion issue. Aluminum/gold on the inside, aluminum/road salt on the outside = battery.TexasCoder wrote:How does it get that hot in the first place? Is it strapped to the back of the catalytic converter? Is this something I should think about doing on my 2004 T5 RWD XC90?jimmy57 wrote:You need to re-locate the pump module per a service bulletin. There is an adapter harness involved.
I'd be sure the new one is VERY clean or you could be buying another one on the way down the tubes.

Zzzzzzzzzactly. $78/fill up + car payment = ouch. I *LOVE* the XC90. It is amazing in the snow and impossible to to spin. Superb car and I would not hesitate to purchase another one in the future.TexasCoder wrote:I hate to hear that you are going to trade it in, but I understand. Hi, is there such a thing as an adapter harness that I can buy? If so where? I'm having the same issue, but it will be so much more work to resend the new pump back to where I bought it from. Thanks.jimmy57 wrote:is it a 2001 XC70 or a 2003 XC90, there is no 2001 XC90.
I think the dealer is the only one that can help. Catalog could be wrong or the part is superceded and there is an adapter harness.

Re PEM:
- Get the new one from dealer for $250. Or Xemodex for $300.
This is a part that can you stranded, so get a new one, I'd not buy it used on ebay.
- After all, your original fuel pump may be OK. So keep the old fuel pump as spare for long trip.
