v70 t5 phz2 2000 hesitation as pickup.

Post by neil16377 »

hi, im new to these forums and am hoping that someone can help me out,.
i have just recently bought a v70 full volvo service history.95,000 miles,.
i have not driven it much, week 1 i booked in to a local volvo for a full service,.
i knew someone at the garage well ,so he took it in for me while i had to work, he phoned me when he arrived and told me about the hesitation when you put your foot down, so i thought new plugs ect. would solve the issue. but it has not .
can anyone please tell me what to check for, i have not much money left since buying the vehicle and installing the 7 seats for the kids, any advice would be very welcome .

forgot to mention the vehicle had apparently been on vida in the work shop and no faults were found.
would all faults show on diagnostics??

thank you neil

update- sealed the filter housing, and went for a run
I noticed that the hesitation happens at about 3000 rpm,s
after the split second hesitation she really goes well.

i have been told to check ETM-
and vacum pipes- can anyone tell me which vacum pipes should i check please

also is there a way of checking the coil packs??

i have had her scanned by volvo and no faults were found, i cant really afford to have her checked over at an hourly rate,.
so if there is anything i can check myself, i would be thankfull for anyone,s help neil

If there are no codes, and only a slight hesitation I say live with it for now until the codes are triggered for what needs replacing.

The easy inexpensive stuff to do yourself:
-new plugs correctly gapped
-clean the MAF sensor
-check for vacuum leaks
-replace the fuel and air filter
-you might need new coils if originals.

so your saying that a misfire does not always throw up codes??? would the hesitation need to worsen in some way for the codes to show. also would "for example a hose leak show up as a code" or would that have to be tested by other means?

and thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my question,, thank you

yes the misfire could be intermittent and not throw a code.

remove the coils and check for fine cracks. If you see cracks, then you are due for new ones. Replace them all.

A true misfire WILL throw a code a hesitation usually does not
If it only happens at a certain RPM only you probably do not have a misfire
