'98 S70 BMC CDA Intake Install Question??

Post by CAVolvoFan »

So I finally broke down and got a BMC CDA intake for my 1998 S70 Trbo and snuck down into my apartments garage to install this morning. I open up the hood and then I realize that my research into the installation (which basically consisted of reading through my Haynes Manual) failed to show an extra rubber tube leading into the front side lid of the stock air filter box (that leads somewhere underneath the engine) that isn't mentioned anywhere in the manual. :?:

SO, my question is, does anyone know what this is? I had a few gueses, exhaust recirc for instance...but I'm not sure. Secondly, there's obviously no connection for this into the BMC, so any ideas what to do with it once I install it? I suppose throwing it loosely into the engine compartment is probably a bad idea...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

That hose is for the air pump. Most people throw a cheap $10 auto parts store breather filter on the end of it. Do let us know how you like the BMC as it may be a route I'd consider taking when my wallet gets fatter  .
