O2 Sensor Ext. for universal Cat on 01 V702.4T?

Post by brandonbeach14 »

I have a 01 V70 2.4T with a CEL P0422. Has anyone heard of using an O2 Sensor extension w/a universal CAT to keep the codes for O2 sensors or bad cat to keep from coming on? I ordered the rear O2 sensor, but since the car is now 10 years old, I figured I may look at cat options just in case. Thanks

If you can afford it I would suggest buying am aftermarket down pipe. I had an O2 CEL. Replaced the forward sensor but didn't fix it. Turned out it was a bad original cat. I have been tuning a GSXTodd 3" down pipe for 3 months now without an O2 spacer and have been CEL free. That being said, you could probably get away with a universal cat and not need a spacer just as long as it is a decent cat.

Where did you get it and how much was it? I am also assuming you're running w/ no cat? Did it help or hurt performance?

races60r.com is where I got it. I paid just over $500 for it plus shipping. And it has a race spec cat on it. I don't run a spacer on the down stream O2 sensor and have not gotten a CEL. I was able to install it myself. It is actually a really easy job to do. Just make sure to give the bolts a good spray down with pb blaster every two or three days for a week or two prior to pulling the original DP out. And make sure you have both the gaskets needed. I cant remember if the DP came with both. Overall a very solid piece that does the job very well.
