Re: USE OEM ONLY for these:
One person mentioned Serp Belts OEM only, I have to state that I have used continental brand and three cars two were volvos and one a bmw which required 3 belts. No problems at all even after several years of wear/use. Still tight and no slack.

Continental is the OEM for the Volvo belts - same belt, different markings.
That's exactly what we're trying to point out and make a comprehensive list of here.
Note: at the moment, I have a Gates K060495 installed to bypass the air conditioning compressor. Went in at 199K, I'll let you know when it comes out. Likely the belt will wear out before I fix the AC one way or another.

I made a mistake, I should not repond before coffeeprecopster wrote:JRL: response 21 in the thread, 2nd page about half way down. I thought you were talking about the bearing plates too.
Shame because I just put in the UROs I think from FCP![]()

Are these the strut mounting plates? Or a different part?cn90 wrote:Actually Sachs is the OEM : $77/each.JRL wrote:...Don't forget strut bearing plates, should be OEM only
I have had this for 2 years now, no issues.
I have seen many brands for the mounting plates, some at half of what the oem costs, are they really that bad, FCP has Uros at half the price of Oem..
Im going with
Boge struts
Oem spring seats
Bump stops
Strut mount plates?
Urethane bushing for top motor mount??
Suggestions are welcome, although I want the best for the car, I want to save if possible..

Which heater cores actually produce heat? There have been some posts about Behr being OK. Is this OEM fitment?

Behr is the OEM for the heater core.
Any heater core will produce heat, the question is how much, and whether there's any side effects, and how long they last.
For example, the FCP aftermarket heater core stinks like yesterday's fish, unless you wash it before installation.
In any case, I can heartily recommend the RedLine Water Wetter additive in your coolant; it purports to improve the heat transfer efficiency between liquid and metal. I put it in my 96 855 first, and the air was noticeably hotter, enough to force me to turn it down, in a February cold snap.

The FCP aftermarket cores I fitted late last year to our 850s strangely don't seem to smell, but the heat produced is nowhere near where it should be.
On another (less related) note can I fit the turbo heater hoses to a N/A 1999 Volvo V70 as FCP don't seem to have the N/a listing for this model??

I would like to know about the brake rotors. Good, better, best and those to stay away from....

Brake rotors are one of the things you can do much, much better than OEM for - the OEM pads are dusty and the rotors warp easily.
Start a topic about it; people will be happy to chime in with responses! Here's some recommendations I got when I was looking to change mine:

If you rebuild (overhaul) the entire braking system, stick to ATE and FTE brands only!
