S70 Key Replacement

Post by KBCobra »

I want to get a spare key for my daughter who is now of driving age (God help me:) but the dealer told me it would be ~$130-140. !~ $40 for the key and $90 for programming.

I have done a searchand so far there doesn't seem to be a good way around this highway robbery. Does any one have any great ideas to get a spare key more reasonably?

Thanks,

A different dealer...from '99 on the keys do have to be programmed. You didn't mention which car you own, but from the description, yours must be one of these "later" model Volvo's. If it is a '98 or below Volvo, then the key is about $25 and no programming...you just have to give the dealer your VIN #.

You are correct - It is a '99 S70. I guess I will search around for a more reasonable dealer programming charge.

Thanks
