Re: I desperately need ideas to get my car running
I had an emissions notification before, but either way...why wouldn't my car start by now? I keep thinking maybe it has to do with the MAF or something, but wouldn't that have to do with the car not getting fuel? I have fuel and pressure, but the spark from the ignition coil seems to be whats wrong. I don't wanna just buy a cam sensor without knowing for sure..and I filled her up like a day before she broke :[

The ecu will fire the coils and the injectors off of the cam and crank sensors - Test them both.
You may have to buy a cam sensor as they do not give pulse trigger test specs. Check both sensors for grounds and voltage and any type of signal that you can find.
They are both hall sensors so they should have a resistance across the coil . You can drop by the parts store and measure the resistance on a known good one without buying it. Then compare to yours. Buy it if you need it.

Some have reported and issue with the CEM central electronic module. They report that pulling the CEM fuse allows the car to start. may be worth a try - and its free

No matter if I search individual or let it do an overall it always tells me no codes found, and yes, I have done the read button a few timesJDS60R wrote:Does the message screen show anything when you press "READ" and scroll through the messages ???

If I pull the fuse for the "Central electrical module, interior courtesy lights, and progressive power steering" my horn and window wipers go off when I turn the key anything past pos1JDS60R wrote:Some have reported and issue with the CEM central electronic module. Also, I don't really know if it's me or what, but lets say I try to start the car twice...the speed at which I can hear it starting seems to be different each time. I keep feeling like the second time is faster, but it never catches.
*EDIT* Well we had our friend come by again to check out what else it could be...well our spark plugs had a ton of carbon buildup even though we replaced the plugs when we got our oil change...also while he was taking out all the spark plugs, he finally took the cover off the last ignition coil and he saw that the timing belt was very loose, it was obviously very worn and he could push it down in the middle and it would stay down...I know this is not good, but would this also affect a start?

Yes - the timing belt not being tight is a huge issue.
What an interesting coincidental failure.(If its the timing belt) . You may have suffered a timing belt failure. If so the intake valves are bent and the car will not start. It will not throw codes and will carbon up the plugs.
Remove the timing belt cover and investigate the belt before doing anything. If it is loose and the belt is off its timing you wil have to stop and fix the head
Only if the timing belt is tight and timed correctly
do a compression test and report back on the figures.
