C70 2004 Check engine bulb replacement
Pretty sure the bulb is burned out, doesnt come on at all, and no ODBII faults, but cant pass emmisions without it. Anyone have directions how to change it? Thanks in advance.

The cluster comes out by undoing all the screws for top dash pad and then releasing the clips on cluster , unplugging its wires, and lifting cluster out. YOU MUST REMOVE BATTERY GROUND CABLE FIRST! The cluster is also a control unit for the network on that car and it can be damaged if unplugged when powered.
The bulb replacement is the same for S70 and V70 98-2000 and I think there is a good post on the procedure on here already.

That all sounds very doable... thank you. Is there a diagram for the screws for the top dash pad? or at least a count and approx locations?
I've been having a bitch of a time finding bulbs for the cluster and the center stack. I'm thinking about yanking apart an S80 at the junkyard just to get some stinkin' bulbs. If anyone has any leads on where to purchase new ones, please post up.

The dealer sells them for $6 a piece... pretty steep, but cheaper than a day in the junkyard...
