1995 850T trouble code light not flashing

the car died while driving. it just cranks over, I smell gas on the exhaust pipe afterwards.
I checked the trouble codes
I get a 1-1-1 for pin 2 which is fueling correct
but when I connect to pin 6 (ignition?), I get no flashes at all. the led lights when I push it but that's it.

what now????

A6(ignition) was integrated into the A2 socket by the 1995 models. You'll want to start troubleshooting by verifying that you've got spark and fuel pressure.

so i don't have an issue the ecu is detecting.
I will verify spark and fuel tomarrow.
I'm a watercooled vw guy and have built a few from the block up so far.
this is my mama's car and the first I worked on that had a touble code system.

So A6 is supposed to give no feedback even though there is a contact in the hole? My 95 that will not start also has A6 and will not give feedback. I am using the All data DIY site with a Hynes manual. Should I trash the book? or just all refferences to using A6.
