Need your opinion...

Post by TexasCoder »

Your opinion is needed. We got my wife's car back from the body shop (on 05/09/2011) and this is what I find. Look at the photos and see if you can spot the problem, this is just one shot of it, but it extends the entire length of the door (spacing difference from top to bottom). If you know me, you know I am really really into my vehicles, am I being too anal? Both my wife and I agree I should take it back...what are your thoughts?

It would appear that you may have your pictures wrongly labelled but that does not preclude me from giving my opinion. Take it back. Any body shop turning out such inferior work should be made to do it again until it is done to your satisfaction.

I asked my friend, a master coach-builder, to have a look at the pictures. Most of his reply can't be put on the forum as it isn't for family viewing but the gist was, "If I had turned out work like that over the last 40 years I wouldn't have a business now".

Thank you Bill, at lunch (in about 30 minutes), I am going to run it up to the shop and talk to them. Thank you for looking, and I fixed the photo labels (good eye on that!). After sleeping on it, I just can't get past the fact that body shops are supposed to have an "eye" for this kind of detail. It was funny, this morning when my wife was taking my 9 year old daughter to school, my daughter said "The door doesn't match your side mom". I laughed when my wife called me this morning and told me that, if a 9 year old can spot a difference, then a seasoned professional should never have let that leave the shop. Something tells me the person that worked on it either was in a hurry, or their "give a damn" broke :-)

Thanks again for posting!
