I have my EGR removed from the manifold. The Large bolt (22mm) has been loosened and slid back. My problem, is I can NOT get the pipe out of the EGR Valve!
At the junkyard, I had the same problem. I loosed the 22mm bolt from the back side, and removed the egr/pipe as a unit. Standing flat footed, a bystander & I played "tug-of-war" until it came free. On my TURBO, the turbo pipes seems to get in the way. Is there a trick to removing the pipe from the EGR Valve? or am I going to have to remove the entire turbo pipes just to wrangle it out of there?

At Last, I got it out!
Fortunately, I pulled both an egr and pipe from the junkyard. The old one is FUSED, just like you said.
To remove the EGR/Pipe as a Unit:
1) Disconnect back side of pipe (22mm)--yes, a box wrench WILL fit, just slow going.
2) Disconnect the wire harness on the end of the steel bracket.
3) Maneuver the egr/pipe over the top of the steel bracket.
4) Rotate the egr/pipe so it is pointing straight UP!
5) The back side of the pipe will also be pointing straight UP.
It's tight, will need a little tugging, but it WILL fit through.
I got it all back together, and the ECU reads 1-1-1 !!!
CEL light is finally OFF. After all this (also put an O2 Sensor in), my trip computer now reads 22mpg (was reading 13.4mpg). So far, so good.
