Thanks for the great source of information on these forums!
Last year I purchased a S80 T6, but didn't realise what I was getting myself into
This is a small list of whats happened to the vehicle so far.
- On purchasing the car it had a nasty knock in the front suspension. The dealer 'fixed' it before delivery.
- The fuel pump cracked shortly after delivery. The dealer had it replaced (I believe this was a recall item in some places).
- Engine management lights came on, I took it to Volvo who read the codes. The guy gave me a printout of all the
errors the car was throwing. He suggested we reset the errors and see what re-appears.
- Error lights came back. On servicing the car I had the errors diagnosed. The Volvo dealer told me to sit down before they give me the bad news.
I eventually took the car to an independant Volvo specialist, which was another mistake.
They fixed the following
Front Spring Seat
Drive Shaft Service
Inner and Outer Control Arm bushes
Front Link Arms
Ball Join
Torque Arm Bush
Engine Pad
Rear Cam Seals
Ignition Coils (all 6)
Boost Pressure Sensor
An oxygen sensor also needed replacing. They tried cleaning it and replacing it with a 2nd hand unit but no luck.
Also the 'Rear Cam Seal' was 'fixed' 5 times, and still leaks. After reading these forums I suspect it's an overpressure issue to do with the PCV. The independant specialist should try reading the forums.
I've also had to replace the front tyres and battery.
So all in all thats been about 5k repairs on a car I payed about 11k for.
Its a love hate relationship. I love the luxury and power, but hate the fuel costs (about 17mpg) and maintenance :S
Right now I'm debating selling it and getting a cheap ford. The problem is nobody wants the volvo, I was offered a trade in
for the same value of the repairs I've done so far! lol.
Actually I'm wondering what else can still go wrong? Maybe I should just keep it!
