2002 S80 T6 timing belt change

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

VADIS instructions are attached. I have included the optional part about the timing cover front as I don't know your chassis number.

I'm helping my son with his 99 S80T6. We can't get the center bolt off to change timing belt. We spayed penetrating oil on it and let it sit over night. Is it OK to heat it up mildly? We are kinda stuck till we get this off. Thanks.

:o

what center bolt are we talking about here? Exhaust cam pulley? Its torqued to 80ftlbs to it will take a bit of force to do it.

I'm talking about the fly wheel center bolt. We got the timing belt off with this. Found two burnt or broken exhaust valves. How can 2 fail almost simultaneously? I'll get a quote before going forward. One other thing I noticed. A slight amount of pitting on the edges of some lifters. I've never seen this before. its not where the cam comes into contact but odd.

Ah, that bolted is torqued to 300ftlbs. I dont actually rememebr how I got mine off. I know it involved a torque wrench.
Thats odd about the lifters though. Chrome plating chipped off them?

I used a n electric impact drill to take off that bolt. I was very careful not to use too much torque.

Lifters weren't chipped but looked like they were pitting with rust on the edges. The shop said to look at them again, probably just crud. I have decided to have the head rebuilt locally. 450-600 New seats, clean, a few valves and fly cut the head.
