850 Starting

Post by AcftEngr »

Over the past several months my 93 850 has been a chore. I first had transmission solenoid problems. I changed the S1, S2, & SL solenoids. It did not correct the problem (the torque conv was locked). Eventually it began to work!! During that time some people thought that it may be the IAC valve that was causing my surging during idle. I also removed it and cleaned it completely.

Recently, I changed the plugs, cap, rotor, and O2 sensor (due to some error codes). Now I believe that my thermostat is open or temp sensor is not reporting correctly. I am periodically getting a 113 code on A2.

Now I have some starting issues. It feels as if I have to depress lightly on the gas in order for the car to start. If I do not do this, it cranks for a short period of time before starting (15 seconds).

I plan to change the thermostat but this should not be a player until the ECU begins accepting input from the temp sensor. This may be causing the 113 that I get periodically but it does not explain the starting.

Any help on starting would be appreciated!!!!! Also looking for an SC816 (with CD/Tape)?? Reasonably priced.

One other note - I love this site, I can almost predict my failures based on the info here. The other day my odometer died!! I have now checked the mileage on the diagnostic area and plan to change the gears!!
