First post here, but definitely not new to Volvos...
I'm going to be installing my headliner next weekend, so i can post installation procedures, but I am guessing, it will be pretty much the reverse of the install instructions which were VERY helpful.
I also have the blinking ECC lights, the sensor to the right of the wheel was clogged with hair, but the lights continue to blink, I will try checking the ones by the grab-handles.
Couple things I wanted to add:
**When I was removing the headliner, I left the sunroof trim intact and just shimmied the headliner around it, since I didn't want to break it. It popped right out after the headliner was removed.
**I removed the headliner through the rear liftgate, I pulled it forward a couple inches and then pulled the entire assembly through the rear. Before pulling it out the rear, make sure you remove the courtesy light wiring that is taped to the underside of the headliner.
**I did this with the seats intact and the front seats folded down, low-rider style. It helped to keep the headliner elevated.

I got in out in 20 mins. Now I need two red tabs and a sunroof trim ring. Well the ring can be salvaged but the tabs are toast.

Wagons are not bad, sedans add a lot more contortions for you and the headliner.
The visor hangers are not obvious but easily removed when you pry the insert out that locks into the square opening in roof.

Removing the roof trim without breaking anything was my big challenge. I consulted a detail shop about the yellow clips that I didn't know were there until after I'd tried. I found that where I could slide pieces to release them rather than pry them straight off, the clips didn't break.
At the junk yard I practiced removing the sunroof rim trim. I couldn't get them to release the way Rob describes, so I used a plastic trim removal tool from Harbor Freight that has a 2" wide "blade", sort of like a sheetrock knife. Located the locking points along the back edge, inserted the blade edge of the tool at those points and tapped the handle of the tool with a short piece of 2 x 4. They popped off along that edge and then I could pull the others loose. That piece is resilient but as many have discovered they will break if you bend them too much.
With the seats folded flat in my 854, I was able to move the liner out and back in without creasing it. You do have bend it in kind of an arc, but it's designed to give so it won't crease as long as you bend it sharply.
I found that on my 850 it's impossible to unplug the visor wires. They seem to be glued in, so I had to cut them. It's best to cut them about half way down the pillar, so you have room to work on the splices. Use 18-22 gauge butt splice connectors for those.
