Strange noise right ft wheel.

Post by arfurwilson »

Hello all,

Yet another problem with my 2005 diesel S40. Normally at slow speed and turning right only (nearly full lock) I get what sounds like the ABS activating but only on the ft right wheel. This is under light braking and in conditons where the ABS would not kick in. Sometimes you can fell it through the pedal and other times not and braking performance is not affected.

To add to the confusion again at low speed and nearly on full lock to the right the same noise can occur even if not braking. No warning lights come on the dashboard when this occurs.

I have recently had a new bearing on this wheel and the brakes are fine etc etc.

Also - and i don't know if this is connected - my DTSC is extremely sensitive in normal dry driving conditons and the warning light comes on all the time restricting acceleration as the car thinks it settling everything down.

Any ideas on either problem please?

the abs pick up ring may be cracked or damaged during the brg install also the sensor often is seized in the hub and could have been damaged to if the ring is bad it usually causes the problem on turns and does not always set a code in the abs circut you can inspect the ring from underneath the car its on the end of the axle shaft that meets the hub brg look closly for a crack
