Door Panel Removal

Post by mse »

I have a 2004 XC70 and need to replace the driver's side mirror that was clipped.

Through a search of this forum, I think I have found help on everything I need to do to make this fix. However, I am a little stuck on the removel of the door panel. From what I have read, there are some screws that need to be removed in addition to all the plastic rivets. I cannot find the location of these screws or the panel that covers them.

If anyone can point me to the location of the screws or provide a picture or link to help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Sumner

Thanks. I'll take a look at that this weekend. I assume it just pops out - no special tools needed?

You don't need to remove the door
Just pop out the little plastic panel on the inside of the mirror by the glass (inside of the door panel)

That would certainly make things a bit easier. However, all the posts that I have read and discussions I have had with the dealer and my mechanic have led me to understand that the panel needs to come off to access the wiring harness for the motor.

Am I overthinking this?

Quick update on this project...

I finally received the replacement driver's door mirror. All said and done, the fix was completed in about 20 minutes. Thanks to everyone that helped with information on the door panel removal as well as to all the posts about replacing the mirror. This was a really easy DIY project and saved me a heap of money!

This site is a great resource for anyone who owns a Volvo. Thanks again!
