Struts for V70

Post by drzeaus42 »

After what I consider a successful experience replacing the struts on my 99 Volvo V70 using detailed instructions found on this website, new stabilizer links, alignment by Volvo and a new set of Michelin Pilots, my Volvo rides like a new one.

I am now hearing an annoying creaking noise coming from only the driver's side while driving on paved roads. I checked all that I can making sure that nuts and bolts are torqued, etc. I've even used some silicon spray lubricant on the rubber metal parts under the strut mounting. I'm still getting the creaking.

I've received some recommendations to check including the spring mount alignment  and worn stabilizer bushings. Any other ideas?

My Volvo dealership offered no help without them uninstalling, etc. $$$$

I'm seeking a solution without having to undo and reinstall the strut.

i'm sure you checked, but you might double the sway bar link nuts.

Check out your strut mount bushings. I've heard that they can crumble to pieces and result in a squeaky sound.
