ABS light on, no codes, but no ABS either

Post by robk46 »

Hi all, just bought a '97 850 Wagon 2.4 N/A. The ABS light is on, and I've verified the ABS does not function, but my code scanner says I have no codes. Is there an ABS troubleshooting guide, or should I go straight to soldering the ABS module?

Thanks.

You cant pull ABS codes with a standard code scanner.

95% of the time it is the ABS Module. The other % is usually the wheel sensors. It is up to you where you want to start.

There are only two kinds of '96 and later 850 ABS modules - those that have failed or those that are going to fail. After they are properly repaired they usually hold up for the rest of the life of the car. If you can solder you can fix it yourself our you can do a swap with member Matty Moo for not a ton of money.

Thanks guys. I'll start with soldering the ABS module. Then off to find the oil leak. . .I hope it's not the rear main.

Honestly, I would just have MattyMoo do it and save the hassle of trying to pry open that stupid thing and resealing. He's super cheap, his work is good, and dealing with him is easy.
