850 NA Tranmission Leak

Post by wickid54 »

ok, need you guys' help again.

I have a 95 854 Non-torbo NA.
It has a weird leak fom the tranmission.
by weird, I mean sometimes a lot, sometimes, not so much. I have noticed no patterns.
The leak seems to be coming from the dipstick area.

How would I go about changing whatever need to be changed there?

There are O-rings on the dipstick tube. I've had leaky ones on my oil dipstick - fixing them is easy! The cooler lines into the radiator are also a known weak point and love to leak.

Then make sure your transmission is filled to the correct level, or it won't last long. Drive around for 10 minutes, and check the level at the "HOT" mark on the stick. The "cold" mark is meaningless.

I've had the connections to the radiator checked, and they seem to be fine.
the leak appears to to be coming from where the dipstick connects to the tranny, so i'll check that.
as soon as i figure out how to get it off the car.
thanks.

I don't *think* there's a retaining bolt on that one. If it's like the oil dipstick, twist and pull!
